The Northern Ireland government uses the information as evidence for assessing milk production and pricing. The data is also used by government when considering whether to lobby the EU Commission for the application of private storage aid or intervention for dairy products as provided by policy instruments within the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The data is collected monthly from a survey of raw milk purchasers operating in Northern Ireland. The data relates to the volume (million litres) of raw milk produced annually on Northern Ireland farms.
